The Hairs Of My Head

4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
5 But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
8 Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

Wednesday I had a few sprinkles of hair fall out. Yesterday the process began more in earnest and today it is much thinner maybe half of it has fallen out. But it hasn't come out in clumps, yet.

I haven't been counting my hairs as they fall out but I do know that my Heavenly Father loves me and knows my needs. He is blessing me in so many ways.

I am figuring out little by little what is going on with the fine art of blogging. Thanks for patience.

Dancing With My Father

D&C 59
1 Behold, blessed, saith the Lord, are they who have come up unto this land with an eye single to my glory, according to my commandments.
2 For those that live shall inherit the earth, and those that die shall rest from all their labors, and their works shall follow them; and they shall receive a crown in the mansions of my Father, which I have prepared for them.
3 Yea, blessed are they whose feet stand upon the land of Zion, who have obeyed my gospel; for they shall receive for their reward the good things of the earth, and it shall bring forth in its strength.
4 And they shall also be crowned with blessings from above, yea, and with commandments not a few, and with revelations in their time—they that are faithful and diligent before me.

I am so grateful for the blessings of the Lord and the knowledge that we have the opportunity to live with our families forever and that this life is a stepping stone to the next.
My younger sister Cheryl lost her battle with cancer early this morning. While I am sad for her children, she will have the opportunity to now be healed of many things. Our father passed away from cancer when we were just 15 and 13 years old. It was always extremely hard for her not to have him around. She is now dancing with my father
I am grateful for the opportunity to have found my cancer early on. I feel very blessed to have such a great medical and personal support team. I am expecting an excellent outcome and will be dancing here for many more years.

Helping Grandma Get Ready For Chemo

Sunday we invited all the Grandchildren over to help me get ready for Chemo. We wanted to prepare them for my hair falling out. Also to let them know how they could help me by washing their hands and keeping healthy. Mark gave them a mini science lesson on what would happen with my immune system. Cindy bundled up sections of my hair into rubber bands so that everyone could help cut one off. We did discuss with them they were not to try this at home, so as to discourage any further sibling or friends home haircuts.
It was a great experience for me to feel there tender love and concern on my behalf. After they all took a turn Cindy finished the pixie cut for me.

I'm Ready to Write

Sorry for trying to set this up and then not keeping up. I met with a few technical and other difficulties. But I think I have ironed them out. The way I started out had limitations that were too restrictive. I don't even do Facebook so opening this up to everyone is interesting for me. I hope that this will be of benefit to me and my friends and family.
 I Love You All.

Piggly Wiggly

Just when I was hopeful that my surgery would be enough to get rid of my cancer, I discovered that I would need chemotherapy to finish the job. From the time they told me that I would need a needle biopsy to when I was diagnosed with cancer, I have felt very calm. Even though I didn't have the full pathology report, I thought about everything that this might require of me. Although I would never have chosen to go through chemo, I think the spirit was preparing me for what was ahead.

There is an unfortunate education that you receive when you are diagnosed with cancer. You learn about all kinds of things that you wish you never would have. The process begins with getting a port. People have joked about whether it was a USB or a firewire, but it is actually a mutant plastic lump in my chest. I like to think of it more like a gum drop...under my skin. I had this put in on Monday. My surgery was scheduled for early in the morning but after the surgery and my other doctor appointments, it essentially took the entire day. Today, I took the bandage off and saw it for the first time. They use the port to deliver the chemo to a major vein, hoping to prevent damage to smaller veins and skin. They will start the actual injections of the chemotherapy on Tuesday. I will be getting six treatments every three weeks.

Another thing I learned is that because the chemo attacks all fast growing cells (aiming for the cancer cells) it also attacks fast growing good cells, like hair. Which means I'll be saying goodbye to all my hair about two weeks from my first treatment. They told me that my scalp will feel tender and tingly and then I'll go to sleep and when I wake up it will all be on my pillow instead of my head.

So like many things related to this diagnosis, I need to make some decisions. Should I cut my hair beforehand or wait until it leaves on it's own? Should I wear a wig or a mop? Should I get hats or scarves? Or is bald really beautiful? So I'm hoping to get some opinions which I will take into consideration. I visited a few wig shops and narrowed it down to a few choices. Which is the new me?

Leave me a comment with your favorite choice for my new look. They can order the wig in any color so on choice D, look only at the cut. And now, in no particular order.....
